  1. Hiring models instead of the actual consumers:

It is time ad agencies or marketing departments stopped hiring models to showcase their products. There must be a law to ensure that they can only sign contracts with people who have used their products. More like a case study. How can the same model be the face of both the body shop shampoo and Tresemme shampoo? It doesn’t even make sense!

Create a portal. Look out for reviews. Reach out to genuine people who truly appreciate your product. Create ads with them if they are willing or make case studies and share that! Pay them too!

2. False claims/Hiding facts:

If 70% of your product is chemicals and 30% is of herbs, do not call your product herbal. There are so many people on earth who would buy anything and everything and review them and post blogs no matter what you say. Make sure you say the truth. Consider yourself a global citizen always. You gain nothing by fooling fellow Homo sapiens.

Did you know? Most of us go directly to the ingredients list these days? Many health-conscious people are not even bothered about the name of the product or the kind of design the wrapper has got. They just go straight to the ingredients section. So please do not hide anything and just take care to ensure everything is right there.

3. Stereotyping:

All the dad’s who have changed your baby’s diaper or fed food to your baby, raise your hand. Look at the no.of hands that just went up, dear ad agencies. Men [the normal men] feed the baby too. Why do you always show only women? Stop stereotyping ads! Men for car ads, women for baby care! no!

4. Creating ads without conviction in the product:

Are you a vegan working in a project to market leather bags? Just say no.

When you do not have conviction in what you are doing, do not do it. Walk out of the project. I think most of the senseless ads we see are created by people who either have no conviction about the product or are not so passionate about whatever they are doing. I have been appalled by n number of ads wondering how did it even get a team approval. Your advertisement reaches millions of people and helps them make life decisions. Take pride in your work and give it your best shot. Stop creating irrelevant ads.

5. Advertising stuff that is bad for health:

It is not just brands that have to evaluate you. You need to evaluate them as well even if they zero down on your agency. While I understand that your revenue purely depends on your clients, do you want to play a part in doing something that is actually bad for the world you live in? Do we really need advertisements for KFC and Coca-cola? In what way are they good for us?

Imagine this world had no ads for products such as these, would every little kid demand such stuff? It is high time we stopped creating ads for products that create poor health [Even with warning]. Let us just be good and take care of fellow human beings.

You can change the world by drawing lines and circles as to what to advertise and what not to.
